None of us have ever lived in a time like this. The Greatest Generation didn’t even expierence a pandemic. My band and I miss, very much playing for all of you. As we wait and stay safe we keep in mind that it will be over someday! But we can applaud our health care professionals, transits driver, grocery checkers, police and fire departments and all those who are doing their best to keep us fed, safe and living best we can. I’m not much on complimenting politicians but Mayor London Breed and Gov. Gavin Newsom have been doing a great job on being the first to have us home sheltered to help in not spreading the covid 19 virus faster. And they gave us a choice to voluntarily distance ourselves from others. But it looks like mostly young folks need big government to tell them what to do. I loved it when Gov. Newsom said, “OK, I’ll make it easy for you. I’m closing all the state parks and beach parking lots”.
There are STB videos on this website if you want to dance tour music while at home. Also my two original albums can be downloaded on iTunes, Amazon, etc. and streamed on Spotify.
Stay healthy and keep saving lives by grounding yourselves. When live music social closeness happens again, we’ll party like it’s 2099!

What a beautiful night at the Sausalito Cruising Club Sunday Jan. 20. The rain and sky cleared up as the moon was rising over Belvedere. Then a little after 9:00 PM everyone went out on the deck around the barge to view the spectacular tawny bark colored eclipse. The gals on the deck started singing every moon song they knew; Blue Moon, Moon River, Fly me To The Moon, etc. Back inside the wood burning stove was heating up the bar as we were heating up the dance floor.

San Francisco Indian summer
My favorite time of year is upon us. Most tourist have left, kids are back to school, the wind calms down, less fog and the City heats up. Not just the weather but the music scene for all of us Bay Area locals. We are booking more private parties for the Stephanie Teel Band and the Midnight Watch duo this time of year now that locals have returned from vacations and can chill before the holiday season. But there are many places you all can party with us at and tear up the dance floor or listen to some laid back acoustic music with a glass of wine. It’s all here on the gigs page. We are so fortunate to live here!

Donation money for fires helping
Recently I visited friends that were evacuated from their home to escape the North Bay fires. Their house was miraculously saved but their neighbors were not so lucky. We walked around the area and saw total devastation. It was sad and humbling.
The money that was collected at the Barge dance, for fire victims, has been put to good use. Thanks to all our fans that were there that night and donated over $1500. Your donations are being used and giving people hope in the future of their land. Some have planted daffodils that will rise up around their property like a new beginning.

Fans affected by Santa Rosa fires
I just want to say the the band and I are saddened to hear how many of our fans have lost homes and precious pets or have had to evacuate, while waiting out the excruciating news if their homes have been lost or not.
We all have some personal connection with people who have been affected. Recovery will take years but we are a strong and resilient community and will get past this.
The band is planning a fund raiser at the next barge dance Oct. 22, Sunday where we will be taking a collection to give to the Redwood Credit Union. They are honest and will get the funds to people in need.
Hoping for a fast end to the continuing fires and for folks to get back to their houses.

Summer Time = Hot Music
Wrapping up the Summer Of Love. 50 years ago I was playing guitar on Hippie Hill in Golden Gate Park while hippies were tripping out in the sun dancing naked. But I also had my professional gigs playing society parties at the Fairmont, Mark Hopkins and Palace Hotels downtown.
I was living in the Haight Ashbury with my parents on Masonic Ave. Going to school in the Mission and hanging out surfing at Kelly’s Cove. I was blessed to be a part of what was going on in this fantastic City of mine and still am 50 years later. No matter what goes on in the rest of the country, keep the love and peace flowing.

Sailing across the Pacific Ocean
COMPLETED PACIFIC OCEAN PASSAGE Aug. 2016
Now that this is off my bucket list, I feel great to have sailed from Kauai to San Francisco on the 45 foot ‘Beneteau, “Ohana” with a fantastic crew of five. It took us 18 days.
Some of the highlights were the thousands of Velellas (sail jellyfish) floating around the boat as far as the eye could see. The low morning light shined through their tiny “sails” and made the ocean look like bubbles were floating on the surface. There were several flying fish. I was surprised at how far they will go out of water. We saw birds chasing the fish in the sky! It was the first time I’d seen an Albatross. You never see them on land. Huge wing span for their small bodies.
Crew member Cris caught a beautiful Mai Mai that he filleted in the cockpit. We all ate it raw with soy sauce, ginger and wasabi and beers. Our view was a panoramic sunset. We caught more fish a few days later.
We sailed north for about a week then started heading toward California. That’s when it got rough heading into the wind and seas. We had 18’ swells with wind waves on top. The boat climbed up and over the waves with no problem. But everything you tried to do on board, became an athletic expierence! Amazing I slept great.
My original song “No Fear” has become a reality!
Our next band performance will be at the Fenix on Sunday, February 19, 2017.

Out of the Rain into the Music
I would have enjoyed even more rain. Seemed like a light El Nino to me. Not like in the past when Nick’s and the Moonraker in Pacifica, had the windows smashed through from the storm waves. I wasn’t playing there those nights!
There will be different combinations of musicians, this year, for several of my gigs. Some with my full band some as a duo “Midnight Watch”, solo acoustic guitar performances and playing with other bands. It’s all on the gigs page.
Stay healthy by dancing to live music!

Great turnout for our first gig at Yoshi’s SF
The only thing I was worried about while preparing for our Yoshi’ gig was that we would not get enough people. You all thrilled us to the max to see all 175 of you there dancing to every song!
Not only was this our first gig at a major nightclub in San Francisco, it was wonderful that the club promoted marriage equality by donating last nights proceeds to this cause. Your presence last night helped add Calif to the states that will legalize gay marriage.
Yoshi’s has always had first class entertainment and many excellent jazz musicians have graced that same stage that we had the privilege to perform on. There have been sold out shows on many occasions. The Yoshi’s staff made a point of telling me that YOU were a wonderful group of people and it was a fun show. I hear that a lot at different venues we play. You’re the best, and we’ll keep rockin’ it for you as long as you keep coming.
